Wait, it's not over yet! Title, documentation and registration are very important aspects of ownership which must be completed before you can be on your way. Proper documentation may take up to 3 months depending on the facts involved. Most yachts are required to be U.S. Coast Guard documented by our lenders or foreign flagged for privacy and liability reasons. Many buyers don't understand the time involved to transfer ownership. We want you to understand these delays in transfer before you purchase your yacht.

Please talk to your loan representative if you have any hesitations about this process. If there is a lien, the lien holder must be paid in full and must send the title to us. This typically takes two to four weeks. If it is documented, the U.S. Coast Guard generally takes 6 to 12 weeks to process and send out the Certificate of Documentation.

In addition, if the state also requires registration, we must wait for both of those to be issued in order to file for registration.
